Born in the Sertão at the end of the 19th century from merging african, european and native indigenous traditional dances, forró has developed its own specificities, its own color and its own taste. Forró, as a music direction is characterized by the instruments, traditionally used in so-called trios, namely a zabumba, this big drum that produces the beat, on which most of us dance, a sanfona and a triangle. It is not possible to talk about forró without mentioning the name of one of its main figures: Luiz Gonzaga, o rei do Baião. For a huge part of us, forró dancers, he is the one, who brought forró to the globalized world.
